What is Mediation?

Mediation is a series of meetings (face to face or via Zoom) that a separating couple choose to attend with an independent and impartial mediator to discuss and resolve the issues they are having with their separation and co-parenting.

The meetings are confidential and the mediator manages the process and communication, future focussing the participants.
Mediation can transform your conversations helping you to make well informed decisions, preserve relationships, saving you both time and money.

Most people reach an agreement at mediation

However, for those that don’t all other options remain open to you and you can still use solicitors, arbitration and/or court.

There is nothing to be lost by going to mediation and even where it fails you will have gained a better understanding of each other’s position, be more informed than when you began the process and also reduced the amount of work your solicitor would need to do if you made a court application.  Mediation is cheaper than using a solicitor and/or going to court.
